Welcome to The King’s School, Harpenden, an independent, non-selective, co-educational Christian school in Hertfordshire.

We seek to give our pupils an excellent education, enabling them to develop academically, grow in character, discover their worth and achieve their potential. This is made possible by small class sizes, dedicated teaching staff and outstanding pastoral care, underpinned by our school values, The King’s School Way, set out below.

Our vision is to partner with Christian parents and support you in the biblical upbringing of your children. In doing so, we share with you in the privilege of helping our pupils discover God’s plan for their lives. To find out what our pupils experience, have a look at one of the videos on this page.

Your child can enjoy an education from 2-16 years old, beginning in the thriving Highfield Preschool, for pupils aged from 2 years 9 months, which is at the Highfield Oval, further along Ambrose Lane. Pupils can then transition smoothly through the primary and secondary stages until they complete their GCSEs. At 16, our pupils move on successfully to their choice of sixth form or college.

Our school is a place of fresh challenges and exciting opportunities. We look forward to having the opportunity to introduce ourselves, show you around our beautiful setting and share more of our vision. Please contact the Registrar, kings.pa@thekingsschool.com, or phone 01582 767566, to make an appointment.

The 2022 cohort received a fantastic set of results on the first rainy day for a long time! The class have been through a challenging few years, not least the remote learning periods caused by COVID-19, so for them to achieve our best ever results is an amazing achievement.

The highlights:

  • 66% grade 7-9 (26% nationally)

  • 99% grade 4 or above (73% nationally)

  • 100% passed 5 or more incl Eng / Maths

  • Value added average of 1.6 per entry

These results are outstanding, showing great progress and opening the door to future study options. Well done to all of you and thank you to staff and parents who have supported the students along the way.

The King's School is 40 years old this September! We have been so blessed by God's faithfulness over the years and we want to celebrate - reminiscing as well as looking ahead to what may be in store. If you have been a pupil, worked or volunteered at the school any time during the last 40 years, we would love to see you at the celebration on Saturday 24th September, 2:30 - 6pm.
