The King’s School, Harpenden, School News

The first half-term of the year has been busy and productive. The pupils have settled in well after the summer break, and are working well and hard.

SPORT:  Although many fixtures were booked, quite a few had to be cancelled by other schools due to the bad weather. Well done to the Year 7/8 girls who won at Netball recently and to the Year 7/8 boys who won 11-1 at a football fixture, with 3 players getting hat-tricks! Fantastic!

OPEN DAY:  Our Open Day morning at the beginning of October was busy with visitors all morning. It was lovely to have some past pupils who volunteered to help show off their alma mater! Thank you to our visitors for coming. Do contact Mrs Hylton, PA to Principal, if you would like to meet with Mr Case to talk further about admissions.

DJEMBE WORKSHOPS:  Our Year 5 pupils have enjoyed a number of Djembe workshops. The wonderful sound of the drums have permeated from the Music Department, and the children have been invigorated by the rhythm and beat. More workshops are planned across Key Stage 2.

VICTORIAN DRESS:  One morning, we were taken back in time by children dressed in traditional Victorian style. They visited the British Schools Museum and were Victorian school children for a day, appreciating the limitations and strictness that their forebearers had to endure.

SWISS EXCHANGE Pupilis who study GCSE French welcomed French speaking students from a Christian School in Switzland. Despite the rain, they all enjoyed a full programme of visits to London, Brighton, and various places with host families.

We value our pupils and their families and pray for a restful and fun filled half-term break.
